Trees instead of presents

Already in the middle of the year, as part of our annual customer survey, we donated 500 trees, as a thank you for your participation, to the organization Plant for the Planet. Also at the end of the year we decided to avoid Christmas presents or postcards and instead chose another way to give something back. True to the hashtag #stoptalkingstartplanting we donated 2,000 € to the organization Plant for the Planet and want to do our part to make the world a little bit greener.
Why Plant for the Planet? We used to have about 6,000 billion trees on the planet. Tragically, humans have cut down half, leaving only 3,000 billion trees. In a perfect world, we would bring back all the lost trees. But we also need land for people to live on and grow food. So we can’t restore all 3,000 billion lost trees.
But there is good news: Recent research shows that we may be able to restore up to 1,000 billion trees without competing with agriculture and human settlements. And that’s exactly what Plant for the Planet is aiming to do: plant 1,000 billion trees. Of course, you can read all about the organization here: www1.plant-for-the-planet.org
